Six Months

Well, Adam is six months old and I feel like it is a huge milestone. Up to this point he has done a lot of sleeping and eating and sleeping and eating and now he is crawling around and sitting up and eating solid foods. I feel like the next 6 months will be very different. So here is to the past six months of naps and cuddle time. Those times will be cherished! Kevin and I are so lucky and blessed to have such a healthy and happy little boy. We love you Adam.

California Dreamin

This past week we were in California. A lot happened while we were there. Kevin's cousin Jane got married to Andy. Kevin and I celebrated 4 years of marriage and Adam turned 6 months old. The wedding was Saturday and I was little nervous about Adam during the ceremony. I didn't want him to scream out or start crying. Well of course he did neither, he fell asleep instead so he was perfectly quiet.

Then we went to the reception and had a very nice time.

Family Photo, the only one from the trip. Here is Adam all dressed up! He sat in a highchair while we ate.

Adam's friend Aunt Mary was there too. She was happy to see him.

Adam took not one...

but two naps during the reception. Apparently he was not that excited about this whole wedding thing.

The whole Perlin family made the trip out to California. Here is (left to right) Dave, Kristin, Jill, Kevin and Adam, Kenny, Mom, Danny, Uncle Larry.

Father and Son.

I was most nervous about the plane ride out there. 4 hours!!! What was I going to do with a screaming 6 month old for 4 hours. Well of course... I don't know why I worried. Adam was perfect. He ate, played and then slept for 3 hours of the flight. He was such a good boy. He didn't make a sound.

He met a girl on the flight too except she cried the whole time. I felt so bad for her mother. She was trying everything.

We got a crib from the hotel that we stayed in. It reminded me of a jail. Adam didn't mind the metal bars though. He slept well in a new place.

Last Thursday was our anniversary and the only pictures I have of that day are of Adam. I brought all these toys to keep Adam busy but of course what does he play with... the envelope that Kevin's card came in.

Adam had 2 bathing suits. This one is his frog suit. RIBBIT RIBBIT!

He took a nap pool side with his feet up.

Adam's first time in the pool. He didn't hate it and he didn't love it he just experienced it.

Daddy's feet and Adam's feet.

The next day Adam seemed to enjoy the pool more he had some smiles on his face and laughed a little.

OH YEAH I am going to play with my dad!

Adam finally discovered the mirror. I have been trying to get him to look at himself in the mirror but he never seems to get it.

It was a great trip for us as a family and Adam had a good plane ride home too. Now that we conquered this trip we feel like we can do anything. Look at our six month old little boy.

Father's Day

For Father's Day we went to Kevin's parents house and we hosted Father's Day at our house for my family. After dinner we played a little baseball in the backyard. Adam had his first up at bat. He got a home run. I hope Kevin enjoyed his first Father's Day. He is a wonderful father and I am so happy that Adam has him to look up to.

First Time Eating Squash

So the first time Adam ate squash, this is what happened...

The funny thing is, now he LOVES squash, it's his favorite food.
I guess it took a little getting used to.

Hanging Out

Adam can now grab the sides of his pack and play and look out over the side. So I guess it's down to the bottom floor for him. No more upper level. This is Adam at Grandma and Grandpa Perlin's house while he was supposed to be taking a nap.

Adam enjoys doing yoga. This is his favorite move... downward facing dog.
He does it ALL the time.

Adam's Great Aunt Sheila made him this shirt. He is playing his piano, one of his favorite toys.

Babysitting

So I am done with school which is nice! Now I get to spend my summer with Adam. I am babysitting for the same two families that I have in past summers. I babysit one day a week for each family and I get to bring Adam. Here is Adam with Dominique (left) and Gabrielle (right) Adam had so much fun with them. He got to play school and go for a walk.

Yum, Yum, Yum

Adam is eating much better these days. We are going to start giving him vegetables and I am going to follow in the footsteps of Summer and attempt to make my own. She said it is easy so we will see.

I bought my first acorn squash today. I gave it to Adam to eat but he had a hard time, maybe I should cook it first.

Playdate with Joey

My nephew Joey came over today and we had a fun day. First Joey dumped out all of Adam's toys.

Then he played with his toys. Adam couldn't stop looking at Joey. He loves Joey's shoes. Joey was getting a little frustrated because Adam kept grabbing them. Adam didn't even want to eat because he wanted to look at Joey.

While Adam was napping Joey and I made some playdough.
He picked green for the color (good choice, Joey.)

Then we had ice cream sundaes. SHHHHH don't tell Adam.

Then we had a little photo session. I have been trying to get picture of Joey and Adam together but it is hard to do so I was very excited today when Joey wanted to take them. That is why there are so many posted.

Babysitters

Hey everyone! I had some unexpected babysitters this past week and boy were they fun.

Aunt Jill and my soon to be "Uncle Rob"watched me while Daddy was away this weekend and Mommy was playing soccer. They did a great job! Thanks Uncle Rob and Aunt Jill. Sorry I wasn't much of a challenge for you, I will work on it for next time.

Allie watched me last Wednesday while Mommy and Daddy were at work. She sure knows how to dress when she comes to the Perlin house. We spent the whole day today and we had so much fun. Thanks Allie. Congrats on graduating from High School. I had fun at your grad party on Sunday!

Daddy's Home!

Kevin was golfing in Boyne this past weekend and spent his first night away from Adam. Adam was happy when Kevin got back and they got to play together.

Saying Goodbye to a Wonderful Man

Kevin's grandfather passed away last Wednesday. He was such a kind and wonderful person. We cared for Grandpa a great deal and thought the world of him which is why we wanted Adam's middle name to be Charles. Grandpa would always check in with me to make sure Kevin was treating well. He told me to give him a call if Kevin ever got out of line :). Although his funeral was sad in another way it was inspirational to see how many people's lives Grandpa touched and it made you want to be as good of a person as he was. We will miss him.

Uncle Gary wrote the following about Grandpa...

Charles H. Farrar born March 3, 1927, in Ehrenfeld, PA; a small town where nearly everyone worked in the coal mines.

Charles was born to Henry and Jane Ann Farrar. Henry, from England and Jane Ann from Ireland.
They came to the U.S. around 1922. My Dad was the 8th of 9 children.

Dad's father was killed in a coal mine accident in 1936. John Farrar, my Dad's oldest brother was working in the same mine. Dad's mother was left to raise the young children with very little money.

The family then moved to Detroit in 1943 for new opportunities.

Dad left school at 16 years old to help support the family.

Dad enlisted in the U.S. Army in April, 1945, right after his 18th birthday. He became staff sergeant quickly and was honorable discharge in March, 1947. He then went to school at night to learn the tool & die trade in Detroit.

Dad married Patricia Sullivan October 8, 1949. Together they have 7 children, 3 sons, 4 daughters, 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He joined his brother John in 1959 in business in Warren, MI. J&J Burning and Fabricating Co. is now celebrating its 50th year. It is now run by his children but Charles still active in the business. We make welded steel fabrications for the machine tool industry.

Dad was a devout Roman Catholic and active at the family parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea.

Family was everything to my Dad. He believed in always loving each other and to always get along and work things out.

His wife was everything to him. They were one, and would be 60 years in marriage this October.
Love conquers all.

Catching Up!

Sorry everyone! I know people have been disappointed that I haven't updated in a couple weeks and I was reminded of that this weekend so I hope you enjoy all the new pics!

happy 2nd Birthday Joey!

We went to my mom's today to celebrate Joey's 2nd birthday. I wish I would have gotten some video of him playing baseball because I was really impressed with his baseball skills. Kevin and Joey share a birthday.

We had a great sundae bar!

Kevin's 30th Birthday Party!

I threw a party for Kevin Saturday night. We had it at Gameworks and it turned out to be a pretty fun night. I am so glad so many friends and family were able to be there and celebrate Kevin's birthday. Thanks for coming everyone!

WOW Dad that is ALOT of candles! Kevin blew all of them out though!

Adam met Mia, Bob and Tara's daughter at the party. They were cute together.

I love my husband.

The guests...

Adam was OUT by the end of the party!
He thought Katie's shoulder was a pretty comfortable place.
